Melissa Morcom

A warm hello to you!

My name is Melissa, and I have been working at Millennium Kidz N Kare going on 8 years now. I have always enjoyed spending time and working with kids.  I have a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education and am a Level 3 Educator here. Working as a Preschool Teacher and being the Mom of two girls has also enriched my understanding of kids, families and the spectrum of joys and struggles that we all face. I try to bring those insights and understandings to the families and kids that I work with at Millennium.

In the last 8 years I have thoroughly enjoyed creating programming that aims to expose children to healthy living and positive thinking. In addition to food literacy, good news stories and the virtue board programs from past years, I created two new programs last year. Due to the impact of COViD on kids, I offered a tutoring program to help supplement reading skills to the kids in our program.  Also, I was able to share my love of yoga through Gloga, which I created as a blend of glow in the dark yoga and dance.

When I’m not working at Millennium, I enjoy homeschooling my 14 year old daughter, committing myself to a daily yoga practice and generally living a healthy lifestyle.  My life is busy with homeschooling and work, however next year I am hoping for two opportunities to help me continue to grow and learn as an individual.  When COVID restrictions diminish I hope for the opportunity to volunteer at Agape Hospice, particularly with their Elephant in the Room program working with kids facing grief.  Sharing space and time with people walking this difficult path is something I’d be grateful to experience. Another goal I would like to set in the upcoming years is visiting as many yoga settings and studios as I can. Perhaps 23 studios in 2023 is a start!
